Drama at Dair House: Building Confidence and Creativity

Acting on stage is a crucial feature of Dair House, as it helps promote self-belief and confidence in our pupils. Every term, each class performs a Thursday morning assembly, usually based on one of the topics they are studying. These assemblies are popular with both the children and their parents, providing a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their learning and creativity.

The festive season brings the much-anticipated Christmas Nativity performance, where all our children from Nursery to Year 2 have the chance to act and sing on stage. This delightful event is a highlight of the year, filled with joy and excitement.

For Key Stage 2 pupils, the summer term is marked by an annual musical production, with Year 6 students taking on the main roles. These productions are inclusive, ensuring every child in Key Stage 2 is fully involved, whether acting, singing, or assisting behind the scenes.

At Dair House we believe that drama is exceptionally beneficial for children, as it fosters creativity, improves communication skills, and builds self-confidence. It encourages teamwork and empathy, allowing students to explore different perspectives and express themselves in new ways.

To further enhance our drama program, we are visited by our specialist LAMDA teacher, who offers individual lessons and drama clubs for KS1 and KS2. Our pupils have the opportunity to participate in LAMDA exams, gaining valuable skills and recognition for their efforts.

At Dair House, drama is more than just an extracurricular activity; it is a vital part of our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals with the confidence to shine both on and off the stage.
