Welcome to Dair House Reception

At Dair House Reception, we continue your child’s educational journey from Nursery with the same warmth, care, and attention that defines our Nursery. Our Reception class offers a seamless progression from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, ensuring a rich and engaging learning experience for your child.

Our vibrant Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, covers:

  • Personal, Social, and Emotional Development

  • Communication and Language

  • Physical Development

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts and Design

In addition to the core areas of the EYFS curriculum, Reception children at Dair House receive specialist teaching in French and dedicated Games and PE lessons. Music remains a significant part of our curriculum, with all children being taught Music by our Head of Music. Reception children also have weekly sessions in ‘Dair to Go Wild’ our popular outdoor learning/ forest school programme that allows children the freedom to grow and explore whilst learning new skills in the great outdoors.

Our dedicated teachers in Reception provide detailed written reports at the end of the Autumn and Summer terms, offering insights into your child's progress and setting targets for future development. We also hold Parents’ Evenings on a formal appointment basis each term, providing regular opportunities for you to discuss your child’s achievements and areas for growth.

Homework

As your child becomes ready, we gradually introduce homework in reading, phonics work, and spelling. This approach helps reinforce classroom learning and encourages the development of independent study habits in a supportive environment.

Educational Visits

To enhance our teaching and provide real-world learning experiences, children in Reception regularly participate in educational visits. These educational trips enrich our curriculum, parking curiosity and wonder in our young learners.

We are proud of our purpose-built facilities that include interactive whiteboards, secure playing fields, an outdoor classroom, and excellent indoor spaces. These resources, combined with our exceptional teaching team, create an ideal environment for your child to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to Reception, where every step of their educational journey is marked by discovery, joy, and a deep sense of care and community.
