Music is a cherished and integral part of life at Dair House. From Nursery to Year 6, every child engages in a specialist music lesson each week, guided by our dynamic specialist Head of Music. We believe that developing musical skills and a love of music from an early age is crucial to nurturing well-rounded individuals.
Instrumental Excellence
At Dair House, we offer pupils the opportunity to learn a wide range of musical instruments under the guidance of our talented team of peripatetic teachers. Pupils can choose from:
Piano

Violin
Drum
Guitar
Trombone
Trumpet

Singing
Our Music Ensemble program also pushes our most able musicians to new heights, providing them with the skills and confidence to excel. Over the past years our talented musicians have gained Music Scholarships to The Purcell School of Music, LVS Ascot, Claires Court and St Albans.
A Singing Tradition
Singing is one of Dair House’s greatest strengths. Two-thirds of our Key Stage 2 pupils participate in our vibrant choir. The choir’s achievements include performing at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Dr. Barnardo's supporters’ concert over the past three years.
For our most gifted vocalists, the selective Chamber Choir offers an opportunity to hone their talents. This choir regularly performs in concerts and brings joy to patients and volunteers at the Thames Hospice twice a year.
Celebrating Musical Achievements
We believe in showcasing our students' talents and progress. Our Informal Concerts provide a platform for all young musicians to perform for parents and staff, celebrating their hard work and dedication in a relaxed environment putting even the most nervous musician at ease.
Our musical calendar is filled with exciting competitions that highlight our pupils' talents. These biennial events include the House Shout Competition which sees each House compete in a spirited singing contest, showcasing their teamwork and musical creativity. And our Dair House's Got Talent competition which allows pupils to shine as they perform in a diverse variety of acts.
Early Years Music and KS1
We believe in immersing all our pupils in music from an early age. Reception and Key Stage 1 children not only have class music lessons but are also are also able to join our Dair House Musical Jamboree, where they begin their musical journey in a fun and supportive environment.
Join us at Dair House, where music is more than a subject—it’s a passion that resonates through every hall and classroom, enriching our students' lives and fostering a lifelong love for the arts.
