Disney Day Y6 Charity Day

This year in their ESR lessons, Year 6 participated in Young Citizen’s ‘Make a Difference Challenge’, learning how young people can take meaningful action within their communities and beyond.
The project was entirely pupil-led and collaborative. The children researched a range of causes, discussed what mattered most to them, and worked together to decide how they could make a positive difference as a team.
Supporting Restart Africa
After thoughtful discussion, the children chose to support Restart Africa, a charity based in Gilgil, Kenya. Restart Africa provides a safe home, education, healthcare, and emotional support for children who have been living on the streets or without stable care.
Our pupils were particularly moved by the stories of children who arrived at the centre with very few belongings. This inspired Year 6 to focus their efforts on collecting toys that would bring comfort, play, and joy to those rebuilding their lives.
A Magical Success
To put their plans into action, Year 6 organised a whole-school fundraising event where pupils and staff came dressed in Disney-themed outfits and donated toys. In the afternoon Year 6 also lead EYFS and KS1 on a disney themed Treasure Hunt and then became Disney quizmasters with KS2. With Disney music playing at lunchtime it was wonderful to see the school community come together in such a creative way for a vital cause.
Through the leadership of Year 6 and your generous donations, we have successfully collected a fantastic range of toys and raised awareness for the incredible work being done in Gilgil. Miss Allen will now take our donations to an Ambassador for the charity in Shrewsbury where they will arrange with the RAF to fly the donations to Kenya.
We were incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils for taking the lead on such a thoughtful and meaningful project. Thank you to everyone who supported them in making a real difference.
Y3 Trip to Discover Bucks Aylesbury

On Thursday, Year 3 had an incredible trip to Discover Bucks, starting with a fascinating morning workshop about the Saxon Bucca people, who give Buckinghamshire its name. Through hands-on activities and exploring the museum’s Saxon exhibition, we discovered that the Anglo-Saxons were actually a sophisticated society with impressive craftsmanship and culture.
The excitement continued in the afternoon as we were swept into the whimsical world of Roald Dahl. Through captivating storytelling, gallery exploration and a spirited dose of acting, Roald Dahl’s iconic tales were brought to life, making for a truly unforgettable day where history met imagination.

Y5/6 Trip to Infosys London

On Tuesday, we set off on a long coach journey to Canary Wharf to visit the headquarters of Infosys. During the visit, we learned about what the company does and how it uses AI and technology to support many aspects of everyday life, from online shopping like Amazon to systems used in supermarkets. The children were able to see first-hand how AI works and had great fun exploring interactive experiences, including holograms, talking to Amy the robot, and using VR headsets to play tennis against Nadal and come face-to-face with a dinosaur.
One of the highlights was a Lego challenge, where AI acted as the judge: the children had three minutes to build either a car or a house, after which the AI used assistive technology to assess their creations and award a score out of 100. In the afternoon, we heard from four Infosys employees who shared their career journeys and emphasised that success relies on skills such as empathy, collaboration, and creativity. They reminded us that success is not just about money or job titles, but about finding work that feels right for you, with determination and curiosity driving future achievement. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Mr Ford (dad to Toby in Year 2) for making this fantastic opportunity possible.

Game On: Our New MUGA official opening!

It was a pleasure to welcome parents, governors, and all the children this morning for the opening of our long‑awaited MUGA, and we would like to thank everyone who came along to support the event.
We were delighted to welcome sports presenter Steve Rider, who officially opened the facility by cutting the blue and yellow ribbon. The MUGA was immediately put to use with a Year 5/6 hockey show match, followed by an engaging talk for our KS2 pupils about Steve’s career. During the talk, the children asked thoughtful and insightful questions.
We hope that the children went away inspired by his career in sports journalism and presenting, with the key takeaway being the importance of making the most of every opportunity and recognising that there are many different careers in sport. Hopefully, he has inspired some of them to write their first report on our next fixture!
What was only recently a construction site is now a high‑quality, all‑weather space that will support school sport throughout the year and make cancelled fixtures due to waterlogged pitches a thing of the past.
We also look forward to welcoming local sports clubs who wish to use the facility all year round for training and matches.

Y4 Residential Trip

On Wednesday, Year 4 headed off to PGL Marchants Hill in Surrey for their residential, and what a fantastic time they had. The weather was exceptionally kind, with sunshine throughout their stay, allowing the children to make the most of every activity. From sensory trails and evening arts and crafts to obstacle races, climbing and plenty of laughter on giant stand‑up paddle boards, Year 4 truly had a whale of a time. They even managed to keep their rooms tidy - something their parents will no doubt be hoping continues when they return home! Beyond the fun, the residential provided valuable opportunities for the children to develop important life skills such as teamwork, resilience, independence and confidence.
Our thanks go to Miss Allen and Miss King for going above and beyond to make their stay a truly memorable experience.
